- June 1983:
- Bio Material Universe Inc. was established in Osaka.
- June 1986:
- Through collaborative research between Gunze and BMG, Gunze received approval for manufacturing the first domestically produced Bio-absorbable sutures for surgical use from Ministry of Health and Welfare. Head office was transferred to Minami-ku, Kyoto and production of PGA for Bio-absorbable sutures was commenced.
- October 1995:
- Corporate name was changed to BMG Inc.
- April 1996:
- Production of polylactide (PLLA) for bio-absorbable bone fixture was commenced.
- April 1997:
- Production of Guided-Tissue-Regeneration (GTR) membranes containing Poly(DL-lactide-co-glycolide) was commenced.
- September 1998:
- Production of Poly(L-lactide-co-ε-caprolactone) (LCL) for bio-absorbable monofilament sutures was commenced.
- July 2002:
- The agreement with Biomet Inc. (USA) was entered to license out a patent related to “Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene Molded Artificial joints and method of Preparing the Same” which is superior in wear resistance.
- January 2004:
- Received approval from Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labour to manufacture a human-friendly denture-base resin material, “ACRYSHOT®”.
- March 2005:
- Received approval from Kyoto Prefecture to manufacture medical devices made by human-friendly denture-base resin materials, “ACRYSHOT®”.
- July 2005:
- Received investments for 160 Million Yen from five venture-capital companies, into a new capital of 229 Million Yen.
- July 2006:
- Our “Self-degradable two-component reactive medical adhesive containing food additives” was granted a subsidy of 2006 by Japan Science and Technology Institute.
- March 2007:
- Obtained ISO 13485 certificate from TÜV SÜD.
- April 2007:
- In the 7th Bio-Business Competition Japan, our business plan “Self-degradable two-component reactive medical adhesive containing food additives” received the highest award and special award by co-sponsoring companies.
