PGDLLA

BioDegmer® PGDLLA Poly(glycolide-co-DL-lactide)

Poly(glycolide-co-lactide) (PGLA) is obtained by the ring-opening co-polymerization of glycolide (cyclic dimer of glycolic acid) and lactide (cyclic dimer of lactic acid) as monomers.
Since lactide has 3 optical isomer as L-lactide, D-lactide, and DL-lactide, the copolymer of glycolide and L-lactide is abbreviated to PGLA, while the copolymer of glycolide and DL-lactide is abbreviated to PGDLLA.

Potential application of PGDLLA

PGDLLA polymer mainly applied for GTR-membranes (porous membranes) for regeneration and adhesion of lost periodontal supporting tissues caused by periodontal disease. (GTR: Guided Tissue Regeneration)
