Polyglycolide (Poly(glycolic acid), PGA) is polymer obtained by the ring-opening polymerization of glycolide (cyclic dimer of glycolic acid) as monomer.

Potential application of PGA

PGA polymer is mainly applied for absorbable suture. PGA filament is used as multifilament because the filament obtained from PGA is rigid and less flexible. The polymer is also utilized as absorbable reinforcement for artificial dura. Applicable examples of the medical device obtained from PGA polymers are shown with color in follows:
